Fall in Love With Reading-March is National Reading Month!

Post Date: Mar 21 2017
March is reading month, so get out a cozy blanket and cuddle up with a good book!  If you have a little one, take some extra time to spend with them reading, "The more you read, the more things you know. The more that you learn the more places you’ll go." –Dr. Suess

Here are a few ideas to help make reading fun!

Reading Camp-out:
Make a fort at home and let your little one bring in a sleeping bag and flashlight with their books.

PJ Party:
Kids (and parents) can wear their jammies and cuddle up with a pillow, blanket and favorite stuffed animal. Take turns reading out loud together.

Rent an audio book:
You can listen to it together or while you’re in the car.  “Hearing someone reading a book confidently is a great way to experience fluency, which is the ability to read a text accurately, quickly, and with good expression.” Elissa Mostransky, a grade school reading teacher and Mom of four.

Read the book, and then watch the movie:
Pick a classic that has been turned into a movie or here is a link for upcoming books that will become movies in 2017 https://www.popsugar.com/entertainment/Books-Being-Made-Movies-2017-42214379.

Get Goofy:
Buy your little one a head lamp to read with past their bedtime!

Suggest Books as Gifts:
Books make great gifts when it comes to birthdays and holidays, even for an upcoming baby shower or wedding, give them one of your favorites!  Barnes and Noble gift cards make awesome gifts and then it’s an excuse for you to pick up a book for yourself while your child shops for theirs.

Join or Start Your Own Book Club:
Books are more enjoyable when you can discuss the characters and events with others.  Bismarck Public Library offers local book clubs: http://www.bismarcklibrary.org/142/Book-Clubs

Have a Book Exchange:
